Key events on Wednesday - Westpac
FXStreet (Bali) - Sean Callow, FX Strategist at Westpac, takes note of the key events for this Wednesday.
Key Quotes
The June reading on Australian consumer sentiment from Westpac-MI is due at 10:30am Syd/8:30am Sing/HK. With all eyes on the FY14/15 Budget last month, the headline index slumped -6.8% m/m to 92.9, a low since Aug 2011 when equity markets were plunging on the US debt ceiling debacle and Eurozone crisis.
Asia’s calendar is quiet. Japan releases the MoF business sentiment survey plus the April corporate goods price index (PPI). India releases May trade data while China’s May lending data remains due any day this week.
The US calendar is limited to May budget data but in the UK we will see April unemployment, expected to ease to 6.7%, Apr average earnings (which have been low, allowing the BoE to maintain guidance for loose policy) and May jobless claims.
